Mom's World
The softest pajama pants on earth, a fab facial, shorts your kid needs and some Afternoon Delight (not that kind!)
Hello!
I’m starting a new series - Mom’s World! And this is the very first letter. So many of you liked this post that I thought I’d continue with monthly recommendations of things I’m into for me, my kid, what’s on my radar, my mind etc. It also felt like a fun little summer exercise. I hope you like!
Also! Now feels like a good time for me to let you know that I’m going to pause the interview series for the next two months, but it will resume in the fall. That means in July and August there will be three letters instead of four for paying subscribers and two for free subscribers. Once September hits I’ll go back to posting four letters a month.
Ok, Mom’s World!
What I’m into right now:

First up, the softest pajama pants on planet earth are from Gap. I got these in grey a few weeks ago and now I can’t shut up about them. I’d say their softness easily rivals Eberjey or Cosabella, but for a fraction of the cost (I got mine on sale for the bargain price of $26). You can even put them in the dryer and they don’t pill! I read a Milk & Cookies newsletter awhile back that talked about keeping something soft nearby for nervous system regulation (sorry, I can’t find the exact letter) and I really like that idea - these pants fulfill that quota. Not to mention that the whole concept of adorning yourself in something soft and comforting brings up teenage girldom for me and every time I put these PJs on I think of pink fuzzy slippers and sleepovers which I’m never mad about.
I’ve desperately been trying to replace my Sambas and needed these Adidas Tokyo’s as soon as I saw them. They’re the perfect shade of robin’s egg blue and because of that they go really well with jeans and a tee. My only complaint is that they’re very flat so they offer virtually no support. The below outfit was an easy favorite from last week. A few of my most stylish friends have been wearing these and I love the sporty sleekness of them, too.
just launched a facial and cleanser collab with Face Haus and this lucky duck got to try them on Tuesday. They are HEAVEN. The facial was developed for all skin types and it included a cheek, brow and chin massage so good it was hard for me to get off the table. Not to mention that my skin was super glow-y afterwards, thanks in large part to the star ingredient in the nearly two-years-in-the-making cleanser: propolis. It went on as a gel and melted into this creamy, luxurious lather. If you live in L.A. or Texas, get to a Face Haus immediately. As of now the facial is only set to be on the menu for the rest of the summer. One more L.A. thing: I don’t know why I’m talking to you about Silver Springs because it’s already so hard to get into a class, but if you haven’t been to hot pilates there yet, it’s a must. The studio is GORGEOUS and so clean and the classes make you work, but they’re also fun. I try to go twice a week but this week (and last week) I went zero times! You gotta go!
What’s on my radar: If I stop making sense from this point on it’s likely because we’re having our kitchen cabinets refinished and, wow, the smell of the oil they’re putting on there is TOXIC (they keep assuring me it is not). However, I’m very intrigued by these lace-trimmed bermuda shorts. I like them in both the white and the black and I think they would be so cute with an oversized t-shirt and ballet flats OR with a little tank with a big button down over top. Thoughts?
What’s on my mind: I can’t remember exactly when I watched Afternoon Delight, the 2013 film about a mother (Kathryn Hahn) who takes an interest in a sex worker (Juno Temple), but it wasn’t long before I got pregnant. The movie as whole didn’t do it for me, but it is fucking funny and there were a lot of great moments in it pertaining to motherhood and identity and purpose that have stuck.
Recently, I keep thinking about a scene where Kathryn Hahn strips down and jumps into the pool with her best friend and Juno Temple and the friend asks if she’s wearing a maternity bra. When Hahn’s character says yes, the friend nails her with, “Logan’s five, throw it the fuck out!” I likely keep thinking about this because I ran out of clean underwear a few weeks ago and ended up having to put on a pair of heavy-duty, high waisted postpartum underwear complete with the little pockets for ice packs. I thought I might write more about this, but perhaps this is it! My son is two and I am still in postpartum underwear!
What I read: My Brain Finally Broke by Jia Tolentino is utterly brilliant. She perfectly captures the terrifying unknowability of the time we live in and what the future holds. I keep going back to it.
What I’m into for my kid:

I’ve been on a shorts journey for my son. These Ziggy Zaza’s are swim shorts, but they feel and look like feather-weight retro running shorts my dad would have worn in the eighties and they’re my favorite summer purchase for Louis. He’s in them all the time and if they weren’t $40, I would have gotten him two pairs. I also really like these unisex ones for slightly less - there are a lot of good color-ways. This Zara option is a different vibe, but also very ca-yute. Last but not least, a friend of mine posted her daughter in these strawberry shorts the other day and I am a smitten kitten.
I’ve really been wanting to get Louis a pair of hand tie-dyed pants from the best Shop Labananita. I’m thinking in August I will and I’m justifying them as a back-to-school essential (back-to-school when he’s never been to school before lol). Annie, the brand’s founder, also makes tops, dresses and bloomers and they’re all so special.
Someone please buy their toddler this vintage Health-Tex nautical shirt!!!
Maybe I’ve been living under a rock (highly possible), but I’d never heard about sticker story books before until recently and they’re great. We got this fire truck one and the other night while on a dinner date Lou and I just sat and picked out stickers and stuck them in different scenarios before the food came. He was occupied and happy and it was soothing for me, too. Plus, there are a million stickers in there so it’ll last you for a minute. I’d definitely bring this on a plane. I couldn’t find the same book brand with a different theme, but this Bluey one and this animal one look good.
That’s all for now, hope everyone is having a gorgeousa week!
xx
